Wow....am I really spinning out! It's like a whirlwind that's started spiraling but I don't know whether to spiral up or down.
I just read a post on AERO that really peaked my interest.
So often these days, not only as a homeschooler but more so because of an Asperger's diagnosis we are asked that blasted question - 'how about socialisation?'. My answer these days is... 'What about it!?'
Does your child find it difficult to look an adult in the eye, or to interact with older or younger children?
If so, your child may have become “socialized” to interact only with peers within their own age group—a very common practice in most schools—and may be losing the ability to communicate with a broader group of children and adults.
Well.......doesn't that put a spin on things!? I never thought of it that way or that I would ever see this written. It's really peaked my interest. I'm not sure why but the sociology and psychology of this really sets my brain afire. Who knows some information I've dug up from my research around this might end up in one of my future posts. Does this set you on fire too? Maybe it's just me!?.....so much for the big problem of Asperger kids not being able to socialise with their peers in school.
